A Weekend in Paris photo diary

Monday, 5 October 2015

Hello hello hello, the final instalment of my Paris posts is finally here! It took a while to get here and honestly this post could've easily been split into four or five posts but I have other things planned that I'm excited to post so here's just a super jam packed photo post (there are almost 50 pictures and a video in this, aren't you lucky).
Before I go onto talk more about this post and Paris I shall link you to my previous Paris posts there is the first outfit post, Cat Cafe and a second outfit post if you haven't already seen those.
There are a few things I do want to talk about from Paris (which I did write down so I wouldn't forget) like the really strange announcement sounds. In the Airport it sounded like someone was being ascended to heaven and in the train stations it sounded like the start of Soulja Boy.
Also if you get a transport pass, like a 3 or 5 day one (they make things so much easier... theoretically) don't keep them near your phone! Don't! We weren't told this to start with and Anna had to change their ticket like 5 times, it was a nightmare and meant at one station we couldn't even get out. So just a warning there, you don't want to have to try and change your ticket loads, especially when you've already been travelling for 5 hours.
All in all though Paris was beautiful as expected and a lot of fun. We did mainly chliche tourist stuff but that was fun. Though Paris is pretty difficult to navigate because every building looks the same, it's all white and all pretty but all the freaking same and bigger than I was excpeting. I've been to London quite a lot and that is big but I know it reasonably well so it seems ok (plus different areas look very different so you know where you are).
But anyway, onto the photos. Speak to you more after them. The photos are in order of my trip, so it does end on a Cemetary, bit weird but that's just how the trip happened.

Centre Pompidou
 Lock bridge
Louvre
 Bastille Market
 Musée d'Orsay
 Eiffel Tower
Père Lachaise Cemetery + Oscar Wilde's Grave
yeah my pictures of the Louvre are primarily just ceilings. I had a lot of fun on snapchat captioning statues in the Louvre and I did see the Mona Lisa but then proceeded to take a picture of the ceiling again... oops.
I also really want to go back to the Musée d'Orsay at some point this month or next monh because they have an exhibition on female photographers but I don't think it's going to happen. I will see lots of photography exhibitions in Cardiff this month though because I'm volunteering at the Cardiff photography festival, Diffusion, which should be super cool.
When we were at the top of the Eiffel tower I think there was a fire in one of the buildings below because there was a lot of smoke and I heard sirens, I hope everyone was ok.
Oh and when I went to go and find Oscar Wilde's grave (on my own, Anna had a lie in) I got lost... lost in a cemetery. Of all the places I could've gotten lost it had to be the cemetery. Of course. I survived though! And the cemetery I visited was so big! It had a map and everything and took me abouut 20 minutes to walk from my hotel to the cemetery (well factoring out the fact I walked 10 minutes in the wrong direction first) and then another 20 minutes to get across it. And then despite the fact I evidently get lost a lot and have no idea where I'm going most of the time I had about 4 different people ask me for directions. Strange world.
Unfortunately for my pictures it was really overcast the whole time we were there and I was going to try and photoshop blue skies into some of these photos but I tried on one and the time it took really didn't seem worth it for like 20 pictures, I kind of like the white in some of them.
Interestingly while in Paris I got called all sorts of nationalities. I mean I thought I looked quite British but I got called French, Spanish, Norwegian and Swedish. Though the last two were by a very strange man on the metro who also told me he loved me...
All in all it was a good trip and I can't wait to start travelling again. Unfortunately I don't have another trip planned until December which seems like forever away.
It is not, however, forever until my next post. Which will be another outfit post and this time featuring my silver hair. Exciting times.
But for now, Caio, and enjoy the video.

Thanks for reading!
